CIVA Charter High School | Ride the Cyclone Nominated for 5 Bobby G Awards
We are thrilled to announce that CIVA Charter High School’s production of "Ride the Cyclone" has achieved an extraordinary milestone in its very first year participating in the prestigious Bobby G High School Musical Theatre Awards. Our students' hard work and immense talent have earned them five nominations, making CIVA one of only two schools in Colorado this year to be recognized with so many nominations.
The Bobby G Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of Colorado’s high school musical theatre programs. Named after Robert Garner, a pioneer in Denver theatre, the awards program assesses productions on various elements including performance, design, direction, choreography, technical production, and orchestra. Being recognized in multiple categories is a testament to the comprehensive excellence and creativity fostered at CIVA.
"Ride The Cyclone," the musical that garnered such acclaim, tells the whimsical and touching story of six teenagers from a Canadian chamber choir who die unexpectedly in a roller coaster accident. Facing a mechanical fortune teller who offers them a chance to tell their stories of unfulfilled potential, the characters embark on a fantastical, heartwarming, and often humorous journey to seize a second chance at life’s unfinished business. The musical combines a mix of humor and poignancy, wrapped in catchy tunes and thought-provoking lyrics.
This nomination is a significant milestone. It reflects our commitment to providing students with a platform to explore and express their creativity, and to develop not only their artistic skills but also their teamwork, discipline, and resilience. The nominations in categories such as Best Performance by an Actor, Best Ensemble, and Best Overall Production are evidence of the collaborative spirit and dedication of our students and faculty.
As CIVA continues to strive for excellence in arts education, we invite parents of prospective students to consider the unique opportunities that our school offers. Not only do our students excel academically, but they also grow in an environment that cherishes and nurtures artistic expression and personal development.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Denver Center for the Performing Arts for this recognition, and our congratulations to all the students, faculty, and parents who have supported our journey to the Bobby G Awards. We look forward to the awards ceremony and are eager to continue celebrating the artistic achievements of our talented students.
